Canadian arms show cancelled [Peace and war, Economic, social, trade union, etc., Human rights] — Administrator @ 11:51 am

This video from Canada says about itself:

Canadian Anti-Terrorism Act has raised concern among human rights activists that it could lead to severe violations of suspected and accused “terrorists”, and to the targeting and profiling of Muslims and Arabs in Canada.
After a recent victory against the arms trade in Australia, another success in Canada.

From the Coalition to Oppose the Arms Trade in Canada

Yes,
"Secure Canada 2008" has been CANCELLED!

Organizers of this arms exhibition, that was scheduled for Sept.30-Oct.1 at an Ottawa municipal facility (Lansdowne Park), have announced its cancellation!

However, the struggle continues!

Join us in ensuring that "Secure Canada" never returns, and in preventing an even bigger arms bazaar — "CANSEC" — whose organizers are negotiating with the City to book Lansdowne for May 2009. The booking of ALL such shows goes against an Ottawa City Council ban passed in 1989 due to efforts by COAT!

Read the

Ottawa Citizen article
on why the show was cancelled. (Note:
It refers to "TechNet North," a major component of "Secure Canada 2008.")
