Five years in jail for verbal attack on Bush [Peace and war, Human rights, Media, Crime] — Administrator @ 10:44 pm

This video from the USA is called Fox News Jokes About Killing Obama.

Apparently, in the USA there is one law for some people … and quite another law for some other people.

From Above the Law blog in the USA:

Speaking of the homeless and the presidency, “mentally ill homeless” Timothy Wade Pinkston was still in Florida last August — which is crazy in itself — when he issued threats against President Bush. Despite his bipolar disorder and a substance abuse problem, he was taken seriously.

Now he’s headed to federal prison for five years. From Breitbart (sh, don’t tell the AP):

Timothy Wade Pinkston threatened in August to go to Washington and shoot Bush. At the time, the 48-year-old was committed to a hospital psychiatric unit.

Court records say he repeated the threat to Secret Service agents, saying he didn’t like the president’s foreign policy or his handling of the war in Iraq.

Pinkston told a federal judge in Tampa on Wednesday that he is HIV-positive and bipolar and has a substance abuse problem. He said he’d been taking drugs and drinking when he made the threat and didn’t know what he was saying.

After a few drinks, we’ve been known to do things that were not knowing and willful. But we’re wise enough not to do so when the Secret Service is around.

On the upside, Pinkston will no longer be homeless.

On the other hand, Liz Trotta, a Rightist employee of Rupert Murdoch’s Fox News called for killing presidential candidate Barack Obama … and did not have any excuse of being HIV-positive and bipolar and having a substance abuse problem. And, contrary to Pinkston, she was on national TV. She did not even spend one day in jail. She did not even pay a one dollar cent fine.

  1. I was amazed when I first saw this clip. Isn’t that a threat against human life? Whether an enemy or friend, I can’t believe there were no repercussions for that comment.

  2. Hi Dagny, as far as I know Liz Trotta was made to say sorry, and that was it. However, mentally ill Mr Pinkston did not get that option.

Consider the morality of Bush’s claim made on this date, that we
must “defeat them abroad (in Iraq) before they attack us at home”.
Consider the trade-off involved in what our ‘born again’ president is
saying. The details reveal the immorality and yes, unChristian
motivation, that is clearly revealed when Bush actually BOASTS that he
is fighting “them abroad before they attack us at home”. For shame
President Bush. For shame. Please read more …
