Governor removes Shriver and Eastwood from State Parks Commission

Two days ago Governor Schwarzenegger removed his brother-in-law Bobby Shriver and fellow actor Clint Eastwood from the State Park Commission.

The Governor says that he did not drop these men from the Commission because they oppose the toll road and other dangerous projects threatening our state parks. He says he simply wanted "new legs." However, the message is clear: vote the way I want or you are out.

Governor Schwarzenegger claims he is a "green" governor, but with actions like this it is hard to tell. When asked about the toll road in a recent event in Anaheim he stated, "I know the environmentalists are sensitive about it, and they say it is going through a (state) park, but the road has to go through somewhere. We can't stop progress."

Please send in a letter to the L.A. Times in opposition of the Governor's "my way or the highway" attitude. Send your letters to letters@latimes.com.

State Park Commissioners should not be afraid to stand up for our state parks.
