A special US prosecutor asked Friday to send former top White House aide Lewis “Scooter” Libby, convicted in a politically-charged CIA leak case, to jail for up to three years, arguing he had displayed “no acceptance of responsibility”.
Special Counsel Patrick Fitzgerald made the request in federal court here less than two weeks before the court was due to sentence Libby for his role in a presumed act of political vendetta that illegally ended the career of undercover CIA officer Valerie Plame, wife of US diplomat Joseph Wilson.
