Alex Salmond and Sir Ming Campbell ganged up on Tony Blair over the war in Iraq during the Prime Minister’s Glasgow visit.
The SNP leader called on Mr Blair to apologise for “this illegal and unnecessary war.”
He said that the death toll in Iraq continued to rise and pointed out that a Red Cross report had concluded that the situation for ordinary Iraqis was getting steadily worse.
“The evidence is overwhelming that the Prime Minister knowingly took us to war on a false pretence, with all of the disastrous consequences that have followed.
“If a Prime Minister can lie about the reasons for war, he cannot be trusted to tell the truth about anything else.”
In a separate attack, the Liberal Democrat’s UK leader said: “Events like this week’s Iraqi Parliament bomb serve as a terrible reminder that Mr Blair’s legacy is the suffering and horror of the Iraq war.
