
Until about 45,000 to 15,000 years ago, there lived in Australia a very big monitor lizard, much bigger than the Komodo dragon, the biggest lizard species of today.
Estimates are from 5.5 to 10 meter size.
Its name is Megalania, or Varanus priscus.
