DOHA • An Iraqi who spent seven months in Abu Ghraib jail in Baghdad says he has horrifying experiences to tell of how the US soldiers have committed atrocities on innocent Iraqi civilians who were taken into custody and put behind the bars for no fault of theirs.
And among the prisoners were not only young Iraqi men, but also the elderly, women and children, according to Abdul Jabbar Al Azzawi.
Having vowed to expose the “dirty face of America” before the world, Al Azzawi is here holding an exhibition of photographs showing “chilling” human rights violations committed by the US soldiers in his country.

‘NYT’ Sunday Bombshell: Secret U.S. Torture Site in Iraq

NEW YORK Just in time for the third anniversary of the Iraq war, The New York Times offers a bombshell account Sunday on a secret U.S. torture facility in that country that remained in business even after the Abu Ghraib abuses became known.
The article by Eric Schmitt and Carolyn Marshall reveals that an elite Special Operations forces unit took one of Saddam Hussein’s former torture centers near Baghdad Airport and made it their own.
They called it the Black Room.
“In the windowless, jet-black garage-size room, some soldiers beat prisoners with rifle butts, yelled and spit in their faces and, in a nearby area, used detainees for target practice in a game of jailer paintball,” the reporters relate.

CIA interrogators tried to cover up the death of an Iraqi man who died while being interrogated at Abu Ghraib prison, Time magazine has reported, after obtaining hundreds of pages of documents, including an autopsy report, about the case.
The death of secret detainee Manadel al-Jamadi was ruled a homicide in a Defence Department autopsy, Time reported, adding that documents it recently obtained included photographs of his battered body, which had been kept on ice to keep it from decomposing, apparently to conceal the circumstances of his death.

The details about his death emerge as US officials continue to debate congressional legislation to ban torture of foreign detainees by US troops overseas, and efforts by the George W. Bush administration to obtain an exemption for the CIA from any future torture ban.

It seems that trashing America and what it stands for is more popular than tyring to get a peek at the photos of Brangelina’s twin babies! Your saviour and modern-day Messiah Barack Milhouse Obama just finished trashing the United States and the efforts of all those brave men and women in front of a crowd in Berlin, Germany! He basically apologized to them on behalf of America. I’m sure all his supporters out there are more than proud of him for doing that, right? Mr. Obama apparently doesn’t follow his U.S. History by the book (unless of course that book happens to have a hammer and star on the front cover!!! God help us.

Hi Stephen, do you want to know who really “thrashes America”? George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld and their backers and supporters; who start and condone wars based on lies and order and/or condone torture. Yes, torture is a crime according to international law; and, as such, certainly deserves more attention than “tyring [sic] to get a peek at the photos of Brangelina’s twin babies”. I certainly do not see Obama as my “Saviour”; if you would have read this blog as a whole you would have found both pro and anti Obama arguments. That Obama’s second name is supposedly “Milhouse” is certainly news for me. I thought that was Richard Nixon; contrary to Obama, guilty of war crimes in Vietnam and the Watergate scandal. At least you are not repeating the Rightist idiocy of calling Obama a Muslim; however, you are introducing the new Rightist moonbattery of calling him a communist. You criticize Obama’s Berlin speech without quoting a single word from that speech. Some people’s bigotry is not penetrable by reality.
