Australia: government meddles against Guantanamo prisoner’s father [Peace and war, Human rights] — Administrator @ 11:01 pm

This video from Australia is called Terry Hicks Speaks Out Against The War on Terror - part 1.

From Australian News Net:

Aussie father of the year row

The nomination of Terry Hicks, father of Guantanamo detainee David Hicks, as Australia’s Father of the Year has drawn the ire of the government.

Attorney General Philip Ruddock told the Australian Broadcasting Corp. the annual contest has been politicized by Hicks’ nomination, which was not appropriate.

Previous winners of the award include Prime Minister John Howard and the former Australian cricket captain, Steve Waugh..

Yeah right.

When Ruddock’s boss Howard is nominated, it is of course not “politicized” and very “appropriate.”

So contrary to when non politician father Terry Hicks who wants to save his son from arbitrary detention, is nominated.

What a logically thinking person that Ruddock is. Yeah. Right.

And so consistent with conservative rhetoric about ‘getting the government off your back’. Yeah. Right.

Australian David Hicks was jailed at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba since 2002.
