LEN PHELAN is tickled by Brian Stewart’s satirical take on the CIA plotting to assassinate Cuban leader Fidel Castro.

KILLING CASTRO

Greenwich Theatre, London SE10

IT’S 1960.

Fidel Castro’s arrival in New York to address the UN is imminent and, closeted in a room in the CIA Langley headquarters, a group of four spooks are plotting the means by which they can take out the Cuban leader.

Out of the mouths of this motley crew, writer Brian Stewart concocts a satire which, though lacking dramatic punch, scores some telling points as overheated, though not particularly agile, imaginations get to work.
